Toilet – Ek Prem Katha Review

Story line:

Keshav (Akshay Kumar), owner of Radhe cycle store, met Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar), a modern educated girl and falls in love with her and eventually convinces her to marry him. But on the first day of their marriage Jaya discover that Keshav doesn’t have a toilet in his house. Keshav’s father Panditji (Sudhir Pandey) is an old cuulturer man and totally against having toilet in his house. Jaya has to face all kinds of trouble due to this. Ultimately she left keshav. Now its up to Keshav to fight against culture to get toilet in his house. How he does this is plot of the movie.

Performances:

There are two stories, first is inspired by true event and is based on toilet. Second is love story.  Writer has done excellent job to match this two in a power pack story. Movie has too good acting performances. Every one  has played their part so well. Music is very good to hear. “Has mat pagli” is soul of the movie. Credit to director as well as he is never afraid to go bold and show truth about current India.

My view:

Family comedy and a complete social awareness movie. Too good entertainment as well.

Jab Harry Met Sejal Review

Story line:

Harinder Singh Nehra (Shahrukh Khan) as Harry, a man who thinks he is womanizer, is a tour guide in Europe and a lost person seeking something but don’t exactly know what.  Harry met Sejal, a girl slightly immature, seeking her engagement ring that she has lost in her tour.  Harry has to help her to find it. And they start a journey together to find it. What they actually discover is the plot of the movie.

Performances:

A lost man met a girl and they went on trip and fall in love. Story is listened somewhere. This is basically road map for Imtiaz’s films and same goes here. But still movie has its power to capture you till last scene.

Performances are too good for me. Shahrukh as lost man, given his best. Wherever story needed love angle, his romance will fall you in love.  Anushka on the other end, played too cute, innocent. There is a dialogue “Cannot look at you with cheapness”.  And even she goes bold, she will look more cute. But when transformation comes, her mature role will also impress you. Aru Krishansh has very small role but his role also impress me. At some point his role pulls story up.

Special section for music too. 13 -14 songs and when you hear them in theater, you feel each transformation in characters. Even background music has played intense role throughout the movie. When ever dialogues are stopped, music has taken story to different level.

Cinematography is again a very good point of the movie.  Each scene from first to last, so beautiful. Beauty of Europe or boldness of characters is captured so perfectly.  All the scenes speak their own tails.

For the direction, Imtiaz seems to know exactly what & how much he need to put love & how much self realization. Perfect combination.

My view:

So what you will like, First half is totally comedy. Second half has too many songs. If you can feel them than you will get what you were seeking else you have happy ending. But you will enjoy this beautiful journey..

Mubarakan Review

Story line:

Karan and Charan (Arjun Kapoor) are twin brother brought up in two different environment London and Punjab. Karan’s parents decide to marry him to London’s rich family and their partner Akalpreet Sandhu’s (Rahul Dev) daughter Binkle (Athiya Shetty). But Karan already has girlfriend Sweety (Ileana D’Cruz) from past 2 years. So he put Charan at his place. But Charan has also a girlfriend, Nafisa (Neha Sharma) who is a Muslim and studying law. So three bride and two groom. What drama creates due to these is plot of the movie.

Performances:

We have seen twin brother lost and reunion movies but this is new angle to twin brother story. Story writer has given all room for actors to put this movie to a different level. But Performance is on average scale.  We have seen Arjun on both simple (two states, half girlfriend) and  free man with no responsibilities (Tevar). This one has offered him same. Same goes for Ileana and Neha. They looked beautiful and performed same demanding girlfriend role. The rest team. Anil kapoor or Rahul Dev or take anyone else, their overacting kill the remaining movie. The only thing you like is Music. Its is really good. The plot required it to be chaos and director has just leave it (may be intentionally).

My view:

The fun angle is died in the interval. The rest is story is predictable if you want to leave the movie in interval.

Munna Michael Review

Story line:

Michael (Ronit Roy) is a dancer inspired by Michael Jackson. One day Michael is fired from his job and told Michael Jackson has got its expiry date. On his way home, he finds a newly born baby crying on the side of the road. Michael adopts him and names him Munna (Tiger Shroff). Munna, just like Michael, grows up to be an extraordinary dancer and a diehard fan of Michael Jackson. Michael doesn’t want Munna to become a dancer and instead insists he do a proper job. But Munna still believes that Michael is forever and he wants to proove that. How he does that is plot of the movie.

Performances:

There are two stories running parallel and both have interesting plot. But when they meet each other the story weakness is shown. Performances are good. Tiger has given really good dance performances. Nidhhi Agerwal has played her part beautifully. But I am more than happy seeing Nawazuddin Siddiqui in gangster role again. Superb acting performance once again by him. Songs are good but in second half they are stretching the movie too much or can say breaking continuity of the movie.

My view:

As the dance sequence is based on Michael Jackson, if we compare the movie to step up series or other dance movies, these one has very average level. But if you check at Indian / Bollywood dance level, its good.

Spider-man Homecoming Review

Story line:

Following the Battle of New York, Adrian Toomes and his salvage company are contracted to clean up the city, but their operation is taken over by Tony Stark’s U.S. Department of Damage Control (D.O.D.C.). Enraged at being driven out of business, Toomes persuades his employees to keep the Chitauri technology they have already scavenged and use it to create and sell advanced weapons.

Eight years later, After civil war, Peter is trying to impress Stark by stoping Adrian and his gang. Will he be able to stop them? Will he be able to become a full Avenger? The answer to these questions is the plot of the movie.

Performances:

Spider-man going after popularity (or say to be Avenger) is something different than we saw in previous series. Story has its twist and turns. Performances are really good. Tom Holland has really made his impression different as spider-man. Again a powerful villain Michael Keaton, has put the movie to another level. action sequences are very good. Credit to director as he is successfully able to delete old spider-man image with the first part of this series.

My view:

What separates spider-man to other super hero was his goal to help people, his web and his courage & wisdom to overcome any villain. And guess what they took every one of these qualities throughout the movie. They replace it with total mechanism.  But may be these series will change peoples mindset of Spider-man.

Guest in London Review

Story line:

Aryan (Kartik Aryan) and Anaya (Kriti Kharbanda) lived in London and are getting married (fake marriage to get Aryan PR). And in that two guest  Chacha (Paresh Rawal) and Chachi (Tanvi Azmi) came to live in Aryan’s house. How their rest of days pass is the plot of the movie.

Performances:

When I saw the trailer this is just same as first part, but I was wrong. Second half has something extra for you and that is suspense and a mismatch love story. Performances are really good. Tanvi Azmi has performed really well with Paresh Rawal. Songs are ok. The director is able to send the messages directly to heart again and that is its biggest achievement.

My view:

I like the series as it let you understand the importance of elders in the house. The second half is better than first in this concept. But comedy element is very poor throughout the movie.

Baby Driver Review

Story line:

Baby is a young getaway driver in Atlanta, Georgia. When he was a child, a car accident killed his parents and left him with severe tinnitus, which he blocks out by listening to music. Baby works for Doc, a mastermind heist planner, to pay off a debt he incurred after stealing one of Doc’s cars. His life goes unbalanced when a heist goes wrong. How he balanced it again is the plot of the movie.

Performances:

A story may be inspired from transporter series, but having its own hero with its own abilities and weakness. Story writer has tried to make it different series. Performances are good. The story is two paced – A speed run on action sequences and very slow at rest. That looses the interest somewhere.

My view:

If you compare this with Transporter series, the action is lacking. but car ride sequences are giving equally competition. The other thing that lake is tension is not build continuous. But you will enjoy start and end of the movie.
